About the Peninsula Events & Eco Retreat

"The Peninsula" is a state of the art function centre located on two acres of stunning coastline at Point Boston on Eyre Peninsula. This sensational strip of pristine coast looks due east over the ocean towards the Sir Joseph Banks Group of islands. The building is an oval shaped glass building with a distinctive ‘sail’ roof and is fitted out with commercial kitchen, bar and dining facilities. The builder of the function centre was winner of the prestigious 2009 Master Builder Award in South Australia.

This 2 acre property is renowned for its natural bush land, beautiful white sandy beaches and an expanse of water directly in front of the property. A vast array of beautiful and unique native birds and wildlife can be found in the Point Boston area. Walking trails are located throughout Point Boston and the total privacy which many people crave during a busy travelling schedule make this destination a top priority.

The Peninsula Events and Eco-Retreat strives to provide a contemporary, first class experience for visitors which is both unique and reflective of the local area, whilst being committed to care and protect the natural environment surrounding the location.

Venue Hire

The Peninsula is available for hire and has catered for special occasions such as seafood and wine events, farmers markets, weddings, health retreats. The Peninsula has also been host to TV Personalities, and celebrity chefs, Poh, from Poh’s Kitchen, Tony Ford from Boston Bay Winery and celebrity chefs, the Two Greeks. The stunning venue and the dramatic backdrop of a white sandy beach with crystal clear waters makes this the ideal location for your next special event.

Plans are now in place for the building of first class accommodation on site which will compliment the existing facilities and provide much needed luxury accommodation for domestic and international visitors to the region.

Rates & Bookings

The Peninsula Retreat

  • Large Event: Full day or night, e.g. Wedding, Farmers Market: $1600
  • Half Day: (for small group), e.g. 9-1pm or 1-6pm: $600

- Hire includes use of Venue and surrounding property, sound system, oven, dishwashers, fridge, tables, chairs, dishes, glasses, cutlery.

Please note: As the property is run on rain water only and has no mains power, we reserve the right to increase our rates for larger groups of people accessing the property.

- Limit of 100 people maximum on property for all booked events.

About Port Lincoln

Port Lincoln was settled in 1839 with the first pioneers arriving aboard the Abeona, the Dorset and the Porter.  The city has continued to thrive and the current population including surrounding districts stands at around 15,000 people.

Port Lincoln and the Eyre Peninsula has many beautiful beaches and spectacular coastal scenery, stunning national parks, local museums, and wineries.  The Nautilus Theatre in the centre of town holds regular events including art shows, showcasing both  local and visiting  artists and entertainers. There are many fine dining restaurants, cafes and hotels  in the local area, some specializing in local cuisine and home grown produce.

Port Lincoln is renowned for the size of its fishing industry which includes tuna, kingfish, oyster, and mussel farming in local waters, and a thriving prawn and lobster and abalone and scale fish industry.  Primary industry in the area includes the production of beef, lamb and wool, as well as cereal crops including, wheat, barley, canola, lupins.

Port Lincoln experiences a Mediterranean climate, which is a degree or two warmer than Adelaide in winter and is usually cooler than Adelaide in the summer months.  Average rainfall is about 488mm or 19 inches, which falls mainly in the winter months.


Dining and Local Wines

Boston Bay Wines Function Centre and Restaurant specializes in the presentation of local Eyre Peninsula produce.  The cellar door is open 7 days per week from 12-4 for wine tasting and cellar door sales.

Delacoline Estate Wines offer Alfresco dining and a beautiful function centre.  The cellar door is open Saturday and Sunday and Public Holidays from 1.30pm to 4.00pm

Del Giorno’s Café & Restaurant is an award winning restaurant specializing in seafood and other delightful culinary surprises and is located on the foreshore of Boston Bay in the heart of Port Lincoln and is open for business 7.30am to 9.00pm Monday to Saturday and 8.30am to 9.00pm on Sundays.

Local Attractions Lower Eyre Peninsula

Swim with the Tuna is an exciting 3 hour trip in which both adults and children can participate by donning a wetsuit, snorkel, fins and gloves and swimming with one of the fastest fish in the world.  The underwater observatory contains many more species of fish including, snapper, salmon, morwong, mulloway, and trevally.  Relax afterwards with a sausage sizzle, and refreshing drink served right on the tuna pontoon.  The trip also includes a scenic tour across Boston Bay and the township of Port Lincoln.  For the braver at heart, you can also try Port Lincoln’s shark cage diving where you can see the great white sharks.

Whalers Way near Fishery Bay on Lower Eyre Peninsula boasts 14 km of scenic beauty and the sanctuary is inhabited by kangaroos, emus and other wildlife. There is a BBQ area at Groper Bay and camping by Permit is available at both Redbank and Groper Bay.  Permits and keys are available at the Port Lincoln Visitor Information Centre.

Whilst on the Eyre Peninsula, take a day trip down to Coffin Bay to explore this beautiful coastal town and check out the local Coffin Bay oyster farms.  You can buy oysters direct from the producers. Renowned for its recreational fishing, Fishing Charter trips can be arranged to offshore game fishing areas and you might also be lucky enough to see a pod of dolphins, sea lions and abundant bird life.
